So, what exactly is money management?

Money management is an ongoing process of planning out your finances.
It involves planning out your expenses, consciously saving, borrowing wisely, and investing part of the money you earn for the long term.

What are the benefits of effective money management?

It provides a structured approach to handling your finances,
giving you control and clarity.

It helps you build essential money skills like, budgeting and financial discipline, and it shows you a clear picture of where your money is going, which helps you make informed financial decisions.

Now let’s look at the key elements of a personal money management system.

First, your income. Income is simply the money you receive from your job, investments or other sources.

Next, your financial goals.

Financial goals are specific objectives like saving for a mortgage, down
payment, investing for retirement, or paying off debt.

A budget is your money plan of how you’ll spend your income and save and invest towards goals.

And finally, money routines.

These are your regularly scheduled money management tasks, like reviewing account statements and adding up your receipts, regularly reviewing your budget,
or automating savings each payday, month, quarter, or end of year.
